Charter Board Sets First Round of Outreach Meetings

This is part of the Board’s continuing efforts to educate and be educated by the general public.  The Charter Board requests interested community organizations and individuals to contact the Board if they would be interested in having a public meeting and discussion regarding a proposed charter for Frederick County.  Additionally, the Charter Board welcomes all interested individuals and parties to attend their public meetings to offer input into the drafting process.

The Charter Boards desires for all Frederick County residents to understand this is a public document and public participation is needed.

That Charter Board thanks the many residents who have already shared and expressed concerns and comments on the proposed charter.  The Charter Board will also be compiling Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and will be putting together a summary for their next meeting and updating this document as questions come forth.

To date the following public meetings have been scheduled:

Tuesday, May 3, 2011 – Ijamsville Civic Association Annual Meeting – 7:00 PM, Holly Hills County Club – Members Only.

Tuesday, May 10, 2011 – Regular Meeting- Charter Board – 7:00 PM, Winchester Hall, 12 East Church Street, Frederick – Public Meeting.

Wednesday, May 11, 2011 – Rotary Club of Frederick – 12:15 PM, Dutch’s Daughter Restaurant, 581 Himes Avenue, Frederick – By Rotary Club Invitation.

Wednesday, May 18, 2011 – Brunswick City Park Building – 6:15 PM, 655 East Potomac Street, Brunswick – Open to the Public.

Thursday, May 26, 2011 – Urbana Rotary Club – 7:30 AM, 9023 Harris Street, Frederick – open to the public

Tuesday, June 14, 2011 – Frederick Kiwanis Club – 12:15 PM, Homewood at Crumland, 7404 Willow Road, Frederick – By Kiwanis Club Invitation.

Tuesday, June 14, 2011 – Middletown Seniors – 12:00 PM, AMVETS, 408 West Green Street, Middletown – By Club Invitation.

Thursday, June 23, 2011 – Frederick County Farm Bureau & Pomona Grange – 7:30 PM, New Market Grange Hall, 14 South Alley, New Market 301-829-9071 – Open to the Public.

Several of these meetings are for members only so if there is an interest in attending please contact the organization or the Charter Board if you have questions .
