Exciting company news, county politics, commercial real estate business tips and a desolate vacation were the topics that interested our readers this past year and grew our readership to record highs!
As the MacRo Report Blog enters its tenth anniversary this coming year and has inked a total of 673 posts and from those disbursed nearly 800,000 words across the world wide web, it seems that there is always something of interest to report to our loyal readers.
County Government
With last year being one of those Frederick County election years that followed the previous year’s City of Frederick elections, for many of our local political junkie-types, there wasn’t even a break from one cycle to the next. And here at the MacRo Report Blog, we tried to feed those faces with a bit of wit, wacky creativity and opinions. Out of our 50 or so 2018 posts, there were twelve that chimed in on county government actions and the contenders for the political office open seats. Of those many posts, it was County Executive Gardner’s new kind of master plan known as Livable Frederick that captured a lot of attention, and of course, we threw out several opinions that caused a bit of controversy (… and praise). And I have to give a special Shout Out to newly elected (but not a foreigner to local politics) County Council member Kai Hagen for being a good sport as I poked some fun at Kai’s campaign, as well as Kia’s victory in two posts, from which we received a multitude of comments that ranged from charges of defamation of character to ingenious insight … Who says we don’t have diversified readership?! You be the judge, click on the links are read for yourself!
Promotional Excitement
The one post that received the highest praises of the year – not for the author of the post, but for the individual about whom it was written – was the announcement that our own Ashleigh Kiggans was promoted to a Vice President of MacRo, Ltd. Here at the office, the staff can’t say enough about our superstar! Ashleigh joined the company in 2015, and before we knew it, she was making a name for herself as a natural sales and leasing marketing professional. Don’t just ask us, ask any of her clients and customers! So, please read up on Ashleigh in the post entitled Ashleigh Kiggans Named a Vice President of MacRo, Ltd., because she is a person that Frederick County will want to watch!
Commercial Real Estate Business Tips
Many of our readers enjoy the articles of business insight that we have provided over the last nine years. And 2018 was no exception. Four of our posts reached the Top 9 Status:
- We kicked of the year with some tax advice from one of our favorite Frederick CPA’s Anca Stradley with McLean, Koehler, Sparks and Hammond who broke down the December 2017 tax reform bill and its implications for the real estate industry.
- More folks than we realized were interested in Vice President Dave Wilkinson’s post on Tips for Improving Landlocked Property.
- Ashleigh Kiggans received a lot of feedback on her well explained post entitled What Is the Intent of a “Letter of Intent”?
- The art of pricing a property for sale of lease is truly just that an “Art,” and several of our readers gave high praise for the advice offered in Pricing of Commercial Land for Sale and Contract Term Expectations.
Getting away from it all!
For those who know me, I like to travel and last year was no exception. While international adventuring was part of the agenda for 2018, it was a lazy river trip through a place with an ominous name – Desolation Canyon – in what might as well be called Middle of Nowhere, Utah that inspired me to pen a wonderful experience that thrilled several of our readers as much as it thrilled me to write. And I thank those of you who offered up so many compliments. If you haven’t already done so, please take a few moments to read A River, A Buddy and A Boy, as I think you may enjoy it.
For MacRo, Ltd., Commercial Real Estate Services, it was not just another terrific year, but one of the best ever in our 28-year existence, and to you our customers, clients and loyal readership, we thank you for your support for the services we offer! … and Happy New Year!
