The reported Sunday that the Frederick Alliance for Youth (FAY) was recently awarded $375,000 in state grants as funding toward building a 30,000 square foot community center in the Hillcrest Drive area.
This site will also become a home for the Carroll Creek Montessori Public Charter School. The site is currently owned by an affiliate of MacRo, Ltd., which will be sold to FAY upon final city approvals.
“These bills, similar to congressional earmarks at the federal level, will be used on three capital projects by nonprofit organizations. Those organizations will need to provide matching funds in order to qualify for the state grants.”
